.. I dreamed I had an interview with GOD
나는 신과 인터뷰하는 꿈을 꿨습니다....



"so you would like to interview me?" GOD asked.
"If you have the time," I said.
신이 말했습니다.
"네가 나를 인터뷰 하고 싶다고 했느냐..?"
저는 대답했습니다.
"시간이 있으시다면..,"




GOD smiled.
신이 미소지었습니다



"My time is eternity... what questions do you have in mind for me?"
"나의 시간은 영원이다... 무슨 질문을 품고 있느냐..?"



"What surprises you most about humankind?"
"사람들을 보실때 어떤것이 가장 신기한지요..?"



GOD answered
신이 대답했습니다.



"That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up,
and then long to be children again."
"어린시절을 지루해 하는 것,
서둘러 자라나길 바라고
다시 어린시절로 돌아가길 갈망하는 것..."



"That they lose their health to make money...
and then lose their money to restore their health."
"돈을 벌기 위해서 건강을 잃어 버리는 것
그리고는 건강을 되찾기 위해서 돈을 잃어 버리것...."



"That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present,
such that they live in neither the present nor the future."
"미래를 염려하다가 현재를 놓쳐버리는 것..,
결국 미래에도 현재에도 살지 못하는 것..."



"That they live as if they will never die,
and die as though they had never lived."
"결코 죽지 않을 것처럼 살더니
결국 살았던 적이 없었던 것처럼 죽는 것...."













GOD''s hand took mine and we were silent for a while.
신이 나의 손을 잡았고 우리는 잠시 침묵에 빠졌습니다...



And then I asked,
그리고 난 질문했습니다.



"As a parent, what are some of life''s lessons
you want your children to learn?"
"아버지로써.. 어떤 교훈들을 당신의 자녀들에게 해주고 싶으신가요..?"



"To learn they cannot make anyone love them.
All they can do is let themselves be loved."
"다른사람이 자기를 사랑하도록 강요할 수 없다는것을....
단지 네가 할 수 있는 것은 너 스스로를 사랑받게 만드는 것이라는 것을..."



"To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others."
"다른 사람과 너 자신을 비교하는 것이 좋지 않다는 것을.."



"To learn to forgive by praticing forgiveness."
"용서함으로써 용서를 배우기를.."



"To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open
profound wounds in those they love.
and it can take many years to heal them."
"사랑하는 사람에게 커다란 상처를 주기에는 단지 몇초의 시간밖에 걸리지 않지만
그 상처가 아물기에는 몇년의 시간이 걸린다는것을..."



"To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most,
but is one who needs the least."
"부자는 가장 많이 가진 사람이 아니라 가장 적게 필요한 사람이라는것을..."



"To learn that there are people who love them dearly,
but simply do not yet know how 투 express or show their feelings."
"너희에게 사랑을 표현 못하거나 말하지 못하는 사람중에서도
너희를 진실히 사랑하는 사람이 있다는것을..."



"To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently."
"두사람이 똑같은 것을 보고서도 다르게 느낄수 있다는것을..."



"To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another,
but they must also forgive themselves."
"다른 사람을 용서할 뿐만 아니라 나 자신 역시도 용서해야만 된다는것을..."










"thank you for your time," I said humbly.
"시간을 내주셔서 감사합니다...." 나는 겸손히 말했습니다.

"Is there anything else you''d like your children to know?"
"당신의 자녀들에게 해주고 싶으신 말씀이 또 있나요..?"



GOD smiled and said...
신이 미소지으며 대답했습니다...



"Just know that I am here."
"늘 기억하거라.. 내가 항상 이곳에 있음을..."





"Always."
"언제나..."





"All ways."
"모든 방법으로...."
